Female Football Pathway – Fundy Minor Football
Community Tackle Football (Coed)
U10 (Ages 8–9, Born 2016–2017) – Coed tackle football. Players begin learning the game in a safe, supportive environment.
U12 (Ages 10–11, Born 2014–2015) – Coed tackle football continues with more structured practices and gameplay.
U14 (Ages 12–13, Born 2012–2013) – Still coed, preparing athletes for more advanced play and potential transition.
At this point, female athletes transition into the Varsity Girls Stream for high school-aged competition.
Varsity Girls Football (Tackle Fall Season)
Ages 14–18 (Grades 9–12)
Dedicated all-female tackle football teams.
Compete against other varsity girls programs across the province and PEI.
Strong pathway for players who want to pursue football at a higher level beyond community leagues.
Female Flag Football (Spring Season)
U10 and U12 are co-ed.
U14, U16, and U18 female-only teams
A non-contact, fast-paced version of the game.
Open exclusively to girls, giving athletes an additional opportunity to develop skills, strategy, and fitness outside the fall tackle season.
Builds confidence, agility, and community while keeping more females engaged in football year-round.
Why It Matters
Female athletes can start coed, then move into either Varsity Girls tackle or continue in flag football, depending on their goals.
Ensures there is a complete pathway from youth to high school for girls in football.
Opens opportunities to provincial, national, and even international levels of women’s football.
Start young. Train hard. Represent your community.
